How does your pore get blackheads
Hi,
Thank you for submitting this question. We’ve written an article about Keratosis Pilaris (KP). To summarise, KP is a dry skin condition often appears on the back of the arms. KP is caused by the build up of keratin, the structural protein in skin, which collects in the hair follicles and forms a hard plug.
Unfortunately, KP is a genetic condition and there isn’t really a cure or a universally effective treatment. However, you can help improve the appearance of your skin through:
1. Following a good skincare routine – moisturise where your KP appears with a good moisturiser
2. Avoiding soaps – soaps can sometimes exacerbate dry skin conditions
3. Not picking at your skin. Picking at your skin can cause inflammation and discomfort
4. Exfoliating your skin gently with a pumice stone or loofah, or try a product that contains a chemical exfoliant like AHA, which helps to break down the adhesions between dead, dry cells and allows them to be removed more easily. For a chemical exfoliant, we would recommend our Elucent Anti-Ageing Body Moisturiser, with 12% AHAs or our QV Heel Balm, which can be used for areas other than the feet.
We hope this answer helps.
